AutorVery inspiring.
They should make instruction videos, passing on all their experience, warts and all.
And maybe even develop a communication system via the net with other Eco villages around the globe.

AutorVale, no tenemos dinero pero las casas son bioclimáticas, tenemos molino de viento y placas solares... Eso es pasta! Y también pienso, pobres caballos, llevando todo el material a cuestas...

AutorI wish I saw this first before I left the US! I will move in in a New York second! I love everything about it!
I was thinking of doing something like this in my country but with foreigners so that my people see it and hopefully start using these concepts for a better life instead of sleeping in boxes on the streets!

AutorNobody owned these houses? What if the people (original owners) want it back?
Autor: Munzur Mamiki
AutorSo who owns the land? Could they still get simply evicted by some descendent claiming ownership there?

AutorI can't see why they had such trouble with the pines. Pioneers typically don't remove trees anyway, specifically because it's BRUTAL work. The ancients weren't dumb people, they weren't lazy, but they were much more capable than us of accepting some things as they were. Typically, pioneers dealt with standing trees via girdling, they'd girdle an entire field's worth of trees to kill the canopy and allow light to penetrate to the soil; only felling trees directly if they were on the periphery and if seasonal and clearance requirements allowed. Then they'd just plant around the trunks/stumps for several years. Girdled trees were then felled after atleast one year, to be used as fuel-wood. They would just continue the cycle of work/plant around girdled trees/stumps in the spring, removing dead girdled trees in the fall, until the stumps had either completely decomposed, or decomposed to the point it could be easily extracted by a horse/ox-team. Depending on tree species, this would take anywhere from 2- to 5-years from girdling.

A pine grove is one of the easier to clear as the stumps, so long as they're girdled or felled at the right time of the year, will completely deteriorate in 2 to 3 seasons.

AutorI don´t believe that destroying the forest to be very ecological. Especially in a country where there is a huge lack of forest. What is their right to do that?. Are the owners of tha land to take such a decision? According to her "procesoanaria" is the problem. Are they planting other trees instead? They cut the trees and what happen when all tress are finished? This is to be ecologist.

Such a beautiful location, but summer will bring hot winds & fire dangers.

AutorTHIS IS BEAUTIFUL, IT'S WHAT I WANTED TO DO WHEN I WAS YOUNG BUT OF COURSE I DIDN'T HAVE THE MONEY TO DO IT. NOW THAT I HAVE THE MONEY, I AM OLD AND I DON'T HAVE THE ENERGY TO DO IT. SUCH IS LIFE.

I WOULD ASK THAT YOU ASK THE PEOPLE THAT YOU ARE INTERVIEWING IF THEY COULD TALK A LITTLE SLOWER BECAUSE US OLD PEOPLE CAN'T READ THAT FAST. LOL

AutorIf you have a piece of land, you could produce your own food & so don't have to buy food. You built your own house & so don't have to pay rent. A house to live and food to eat are 2 most essential things to support our live. Other thing like TV, handphone, internet, car, electric/electronic device are not absolute essential for us to stay alive.

AutorWouldn't be allowed in the UK. The energy companies make too much money from the population. It's rarely possible to find a way of being self sufficient. Only if you're a rich eco hipster or the like.

AutorReading some of the comments here, my God, they all think they know best.

Listen, for one thing, there are PLENTY OF JOBS to go around, even today. Talk to anyone who's in employment recruitment, they'll tell you.. they have unfilled jobs piling up in their files. In the UK we have to import immigrants to fill thousands and thousands of jobs..
THEN the indigenous folk here have the nerve to complain that the bloody immigrants are taking all the jobs !!

The truth is, that kids today don't want to work, yes it's a generalisation I know, but why don't they take the jobs that are struggling to find workers? I'll tell you why. TELEVISION.
Kids today don't want to work and save for things. They want to be CELEBRITIES.. and get everything NOW.

The folk in this video might well be 'outsiders' to some extent, but they have obviously worked bloody hard to get things going in these ruined old towns.. good for them..
But they orange spray tanned, pouting overly made up, tarty little princesses who seem to spend all day taking and posting 'selfies' wherever they can, have not the slightest intention of risking their false nails on any real work..

They have been allowed to get away with crappy behaviour while in schools for so long, that ''EDUCATION" and getting qualified to do a decent job or, God forbid, A CAREER , means absolutely nothing to them these days. }~Why study to get a good job? When all they want to be is a celebrity? Easy money, fand fawning over them..
Dead easy eh?
But because they are uneducated nowadays, they are too thick to realise that they are utterly talentless.. and so will never get anywhere near being a celebrity. with all that free money and cars and houses.
most will end up having a fleet of kids, to different fathers, who will of course vanish as soon as she gets pregnant.

AutorYeah, there's the playground, the children's section ... and no kids. Well, DUH! The towns started emptying in the 50s and 60's, she says. Right when the Pill was invented, just after WWII. Kill the kids, destroy the future generations. Hence, from divorce which destroys the family, to abortion and birth control which destroys future generations, liberalism is the scourge of civilization.

AutorI wonder if they use compost toilets, or just out houses? Also, what about plumbing, and waste water as in dirty sink water? I would be interested in finding out what they did here. I've been wanting to build a cabin out a ways and they seem to have the right idea. I would love to join and contribute to a community like this. It seems like a simpler slower life.

AutorGlad that these people are able to make homes and a way of life for themselves. This is a good example of sustainable living, and there are many other places similar to this throughout the world that need love work and caring. If people design things properly, they can be self sustaining and not need oil and other things that we waste today. I say that because oil can be used as a valuable starter product and lubricant instead of just burning it up.

AutorI bet it wasn't "completely destroyed". I bet most of it was still intact. All that stonework would've taken the original builders a huge amount of time and effort and would've been still standing when this group of people came along to "restore" the town. A very much doubt she had to do any of that main work.
"Completely destroyed" my ass

AutorIf they were to install savonus rotor units instead of bird and bat chopping wind propellers, they would produce much more energy and the rotors would not have to be so high up. One at the lower levels can be used to shaft drive a water pump that can draw water from a deep well and pump it up the hill to a small lake they could dig out and thus use gravity to supply water and raise food fish With the protein supplied by goats, chickens, and fish, they would not have need for swine and would have a cleaner system. Biowaste from humans can be used to make methane in digesters that can run stoves, heaters, generators, or be sold as biogas.

AutorThank you for making these films. Truly grateful. I am curious to know more about the woman's comments of "being pressured to become labour"? What did she mean by this? Franco was forcing people to move to cities? I would be so grateful to learn more about this? Any books also people might be able to recommend on the topic? Thank you very much.
